Along the River Parrett

There’s no end of food and drink on the River Parrett Trail, with pubs, cider distilleries and village cafes to find along the way. Or you can pack up a picnic, find your own picturesque spot to sit and enjoy the gorgeous countryside.

Lovely Pubs

Stop by the famous King Alfred Inn in Burrow Bridge or The Wyndham Arms in Kingsbury Episcopi. Further afield, but still near the River Parrett Trail is Norton Sub Hamdon’s lively Lord Nelson and the Black Swan in Langport.

Cafes & Cake

Sit by the River Parrett in Langport with coffee and cake at River Parrett Cafe or the Kitchen

Picturesque Picnic Spots

Drayton Pump Station is a perfect spot for a picnic, with a bench and an unofficial rope swing. This a prime area to spot herons, kingfishers and, if you’re up early enough, the occasional otter!

Further afield is Ham Hill Country Park, with a lovely loop onto the River Parrett Trail via Norton Sub Hamdon. There’s plenty of places to spread a picnic blanket and enjoy the stunning views across the Somerset levels.
